Luxury Warren Court’s acoustic solution from Hush

  • 21 Sep 2018

Warren Court is a brand new development, which contains nine luxury two bedroom apartments for which Hush Acoustics provided Marlowe Building Contractors with advice and materials for the apartments soundproofing.

This ensures that the acoustic performance is better than the New Build standard.

The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) energy ratings had already been calculated and passed before Hush were involved with the acoustic design. The structure comprised of lightweight masonry walls and a timber joist floor structure.

Hush were unable to change the structure due to SAP compliance, so we forced to create a comprehensive design that would ensure compliance to the Building Regs with this form of construction detail.

The biggest issue faced was the continuous lightweight block walls that, although may be very thermally efficient, acoustically caused plenty of problems.

In order to go above and beyond the new build standard, all blockwork and timber floor joists were isolated on Hush Resilient Seating.

All the ceilings were isolated by using Hush Suspended Ceilings in the main and used Enhanced Clip and Channel System where the floor/ceiling heights were at a premium. Hush Panel 28 was provided throughout as the floating acoustic flooring system.

Pre-completion sound tests were carried out, which achieved results well in excess of the new build standard.

The positive results were achieved by both the overall specification but also Marlowe’s attention to detail.

The overall finish is one of supreme quality, that is visually pleasing and incorporates great acoustic performance.
