Crown Paints sets the tone for winter with colour forecast

  • 25 Sep 2018

Crown Paints’ has announced three new colour trends which are set to influence colour schemes for the next season.

Crown’s panel of six colour experts determines key colour influences each year by assessing and interpreting current and future global trends. The aim of the panel is to inspire architects, specifiers and building owners alike to feel confident in choosing colour to create statement colour schemes.

This year Crown’s colour experts have identified three core colour trends; ‘Saturated’, ‘Washed’ and ‘Midnight Garden’. The three trends include a palette of signature colours and supporting accent tones together with more neutral hues.

‘Saturated’ uses intensified colours such as vivid greens, saturated reds, burnt oranges and an intense blue to create the feeling that you’re looking at the world through a camera lens.

The ‘Washed’ palette, on the other hand, consists of muted hues. Soft faded lilacs, greens, blues have been combined with neutral cream to create a palette anchored in the natural world.

‘Midnight Garden’ trend is characterised by deep and moody tones paired with dusky highlights, such as inky blues, warming plums and tonal navy blues, softened with wispy lilacs and neutral greys for a cosy winter scheme.

Kathryn Lloyd colour specialist at Crown Paints said: “Whether specifying a colour scheme for a large-scale project or working with individual clients, it’s useful to have a good understanding of the trends which are likely to shape the future of our homes and public spaces. This is why we put so much emphasis to bring together the latest colour influences.

“We get together annually to look at a diverse range of trends before distilling them down into core colour influences to provide something to suit all tastes.”

Crown Paints’ Colour Services team is on hand to offer expert assistance and advice on all aspects of colour specification.
