The owner of a two-storey property in Brighton has used a wood finish from Osmo UK to revive the exterior timber cladding on his family home.
After hearing about Osmo UK’s reputation for good quality sustainable finishes, she knew its products would provide a long-lasting finish and also enhance the natural character of the wood.
Rachel Forrest felt the timber shiplap on the front and rear of her home was starting to look dull and tired, so wanted a wood finish to rejuvenate the existing cladding and keep it in good condition for years to come.
Rachel opted for Osmo UK UV-Protection-Oil in 420 Clear; specially designed to maintain the natural colouring of the wood, this product is perfect for exterior joinery, as it slows down the greying process.
Not only does this finish protect against harsh weather damage, but it also prevents algae, mildew and fungal attacks.
The project took two days to undergo, with only one coat needed to achieve the desired finish. A flat brush was used to apply the oil to the exterior cladding, which provided a thin, even coverage.
Rachel commented: “I was looking for a product that would protect the exterior cladding from harsh weather conditions.
“Osmo UK UV-Protection-Oil has brought the weathered timber back to life. I’m really impressed with the overall finish – the timber has retained its colour extremely well.”
The UV-Protection-Oil range consists of active ingredients to eliminate algae and fungal decay and provide optimal protection against the sun’s UV rays.
By absorbing into the wood, the oil allows the surface to remain healthy and elastic, preventing it from drying and becoming brittle. The oil will also not crack, flake, peel or blister. Ideal for exterior decking, it provides a satin, clear finish that not only protects the wood surface it can also enhance the natural look of the wood.
For raw wood application, two coats need to be applied, whilst just one is needed for surface renewal. Dry after just 12 hours, Osmo UK UV-Protection-Oil will provide a durable protection from UV rays, ensuring the exterior timber looks refreshed and new for years to come.
