This year marks a remarkable milestone for Patrick Jefferies, Abloy UK’s esteemed Commercial Director, as he celebrates 30 years of dedicated service to the company and the industry. Pat’s journey with the company is a testament to his unwavering commitment to safety, compliance, and innovation in the field of security solutions.
Starting as a Regional Sales Representative in 1994, Pat’s career with Abloy has seen him progress through various roles, including National Sales Manager, Academy Director, and Commercial Director in 2011. Throughout his time with the company, Pat has been dedicated to the company’s growth and to advancing standards in the security and access control industry.
A major achievement during Pat’s career was the establishment of the Abloy Academy, which was created to offer training programs that focus on safety, compliance, and best practices in security and access control. The Academy has helped educate installers, specifiers, and other professionals in the industry, supporting the adoption of industry standards.
In addition to his role at Abloy, Pat serves as the UK’s technical expert for electric locking with the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). His involvement in shaping industry standards has been important in ensuring the continued development of best practices and safety protocols across Europe.
In recognition of his contributions, Pat was awarded the Abloy Trusted Advisor of the Year Award in 2022. This award highlights his ongoing commitment to the security industry and his work in promoting safety and compliance. He is also Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) qualified and became a Bronze Medal Holder in 1999.
Pat’s career highlights include contributing to the development and implementation of EN 13637 standards for electrically controlled escape door systems, as well as playing a role in the creation of PSA67 legislation in Ireland, improving safety standards in the region.
He also received the Finnish Embassy’s Services to Export Award in 2010, and actively supports the GAI Diploma program, encouraging others to develop their expertise.
Pat comments: “The focus of my work has always been to contribute to safety and security, and I’m pleased to have had the opportunity to help make a positive impact in the industry. Over the last 30 years I have seen a step change not only in terms of standards and compliance, but also with the more recent adoption of digital access solutions.
“The Abloy Academy was created to help educate the industry and raise awareness of solutions that offered high security while ensuring life safety, and how to specify and install them, and I’m delighted with the Academy’s success.
“We’ve also driven huge innovations in access control, and I’m proud to be part of a team that is pioneering systems that offer the highest level of security and quality. None of this would have been possible without the support of the wider team, and I would like to give credit to my incredible colleagues responsible for developing our advanced technologies.”
Aaron Yule, Managing Director at Abloy UK, says: “Pat has been an integral part of Abloy UK’s development over the past three decades. We are immensely proud to have him as a cornerstone of the Abloy family, and his vision, leadership, and commitment have been instrumental in our success.
“We congratulate him on his 30 years of service and look forward to his continued contributions in the years ahead.”
