ADSA joins influential IfATE Employer Directory for apprenticeships

  • 14 Mar 2023

You can now find The Automatic Doors Suppliers Association (ADSA) in the Employer Directory, run by the government-backed Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE), which aims to heighten industry alignment between apprenticeships and occupational needs.

The inclusion rubber-stamps ADSA’s position in spearheading professional standards and its role in developing a future workforce for the automatic door industry.

ADSA had to meet a rigorous criterion to gain its place in the directory and evidence…

 – governance structure
 – responsibilities
 – relevant statutory functions
 – identify board members and their roles across a range of employers
 – employers with whom is works
 – number of members from across the sector

It also had to demonstrate its experience and capability to fulfil its role as an occupational expert and ensure that no conflicts of interest would prevent it from operating as such.

Directory entrants need to submit written submissions for assessment, with successful candidates attending a seminar on their role within the partnership at the end of September.

The directory has the intention of promoting industry input in the evaluation of apprenticeship end point assessments (EPA). It highlights the importance of partnerships with industry recognised professional organisations.

‘Trailblazer’

Ken Price, ADSA managing director, says: “We were thrilled to be invited to submit an application to become a partner organisation within the Employer Directory. It reflects our many years of hard work in developing the Powered Pedestrian Door Technician Apprenticeship – from trailblazer to supporting the colleges which deliver it.

“Our inclusion will help ADSA progress the aims of our industry by enabling us to work with organisation such as Ofqual and the Office for Students, contribute to end point assessment organisation forums and discussion groups, and support efforts to improve external quality assurance.”

Ian Steward, Employer Directory manager at IfATE, adds: “We are delighted to welcome ADSA to the Employer Directory. We firmly believe that partnerships with industry recognised professional organisations gives evaluation of the quality of apprenticeship assessment added credibility and recognition as a genuine test of occupational competence.”

Four cohorts of PPD Technician Apprenticeships have began, with a fifth starting in May.
