The Automatic Door Suppliers Association (ADSA) is launching a series of refreshed safety check videos to provide up-to-date guidance for building occupiers and powered pedestrian door technicians.
The new content underlines ADSA’s commitment to promoting safety, compliance and industry best practice across the sector.
Originally developed in 2018, the occupier safety videos have been updated in line with revised industry standards introduced at the end of 2023. The changes reflect current technologies, enhanced safety expectations and improved installation and maintenance practices.
Ken Price, Managing Director of ADSA, comments: “We recognised the need to update both the messaging and presentation of the original videos. The new versions not only look more professional, but they also reinforce the critical role regular checks play in ensuring safe and compliant door systems.”
The new series features four videos – two aimed at building occupiers and two for technicians. Each set is tailored to its audience, with practical, easy-to-follow content.

The occupier videos explain the responsibilities of occupiers in maintaining door safety, outlining the importance of weekly checks and offering advice on spotting operational issues before they become serious or costly.

These can be viewed on YouTube – for swing doors or for sliding doors.
The step-by-step guides for technicians demonstrate how to carry out essential safety measurements and explain their significance – supporting both seasoned technicians and those new to the profession.
Ken Price adds: “This initiative isn’t just about ticking compliance boxes. It’s about prevention, protection, and promoting professionalism across the board.”
Technicians from ADSA member companies can access them via the ADSA Academy, which now includes a playlist feature and bookmarking tools for flexible, repeat learning.
In addition, ADSA is introducing downloadable weekly check logs for swing and sliding doors – an easy-to-use document that helps occupiers record their safety checks and comply with recommendations that documentation be retained for at least 12 months. They can be downloaded for FREE here.
The video launch supports ADSA’s ongoing work in standards development and education. The association encourages building owners, site managers, and facilities professionals to review their current procedures and reinforce their duty of care to building users.
