Ahmarra Door Solutions introduce AhmGuard to their product range – a seamless innovation in finger protection for fire doors.
Thousands of people trap their fingers in doors every year, which can cause serious injury. This is particularly true in environments where young children are present such as primary schools and nurseries, but also in hospitals, care homes and leisure centres.
The Department for Education’s Design Brief (November 2020) states new doors in areas used by young children should have integral finger guards.
However, the majority of anti-finger trap solutions are retro-fit and are often unattractive and cumbersome. They work on the premise of covering the gap between the door and frame.
AhmGuard finger protection is a discreet and ergonomic solution. Its smooth curve is an integral part of the timber doorset, rather than an add-on feature.
Effective and seamless, its engineered geometry prevents fingers from being crushed regardless of whether the person is standing on the opening or closing side of the door.
As AhmGuard’s aesthetically pleasing profile forms part of the complete doorset, you can select from a wide choice of timber veneer and high-pressure laminate options, achieving the perfect design for your project.
AhmGuard delivers fantastic whole life cost benefits by reducing installation time and through avoiding the need to continually replace worn or broken retro-fit finger protection.
Tested to the British Standard BS 8613:2017 ‘Finger Protection Devices for Pedestrian Doors’, AhmGuard is fully compliant with building regulations.
AhmGuard met the more onerous Class 2 of the standard. This assesses the device’s ability to prevent fingers entering the gap between the door and frame when force is used. Class 1 devices do not undergo this part of the testing.
– anti-finger trapping (BS 8613:2017 – Type A, Class 2)
– fire (FD30), acoustics (30 RwdB)
– sustainability (made from FSC® certified timber)
– durability (tested to a minimum of 200,000 cycles).
This solution is available as part of Ahmarra’s ‘Education Range’ doorsets, which come with factory-fitted compatible ironmongery as standard.
