Alumasc Derbigum Olivine membrane actively fights climate change

  • 8 Nov 2016

Alumasc Derbigum Olivine is an eco-friendly waterproofing solution which actively purifies air by neutralising CO2 whenever the membrane comes into contact with rainwater.

The roofing membrane combats climate change by transforming CO2 into three environmentally harmless substances – water, magnesium carbonate and sand.

For every square metre of Alumasc Derbigum Olivine that is laid, 1.75kg of CO2 is neutralised by its 100 percent natural occurring surfacing, that simply requires grinding down to the right size for installation.

Olivine is UV resistant, so its effectiveness is not affected by the sun’s rays and even with natural aging, the active compound in the olivine will still be present when the roofing membrane itself is at the end of its lifespan.

The durable bituminous roofing membrane is BBA certified for up to 40 years and has previously been used on a variety of high profile buildings in the UK including the Shard and in Canary Wharf.
