ASSA ABLOY celebrates successful Secured by Design roadshow

  • 4 Oct 2024

ASSA ABLOY and Secured by Design (SBD) are celebrating the great success of their recent roadshow, which significantly raised awareness across the industry about the advantages of integrating security into building design from the outset.

Hosted throughout September, the roadshow attracted a diverse audience, including Design Out Crime Officers (DOCOs), Crime Prevention Officers (CPOs), and counterterrorism specialists.  The events featured presentations from ASSA ABLOY business units Yale Retail, Yale DWS, Mila, Abloy, Mul-T-Lock, and Union. Attendees also participated in guided tours of the Group’s facilities in Cheltenham, Willenhall, Daventry, and Carlisle, with security testing, cylinder re-pinning and smart living demonstrations.

The presentations highlighted the importance of incorporating effective crime prevention strategies during the planning stages of new constructions and significant refurbishments, including by adhering to standards such as PAS24, TS007, and TS008 and harnessing the benefits of Smart Connected Devices (SCDs) and indicative tests.

ASSA ABLOY also showcased its market-leading, Secured by Design-accredited products. Among these were the Smart Security Ecosystem from Yale Retail, the Postmaster Professional TS008 Letterplate from Yale DWS, the ProSecure 1 star cylinder from Mila, eCliq from Abloy, the MTL™300 Break Secure® 3XP from Mul-T-Lock and StrongBolt from Union.

The roadshow received excellent feedback from the 47 attendees, with comments including:

– “The team all felt it was really useful, appropriate, and well-delivered CPD in a friendly environment” – Cheltenham

– “A very enjoyable day, very interesting, increasing my knowledge of products available to make premises more secure” – Willenhall

– “I enjoyed the test demonstration, lovely venue, and well looked after. The day was very informative and enjoyable” – Daventry

– “An excellent and informative day, with first-class hospitality” – Carlisle Brass

Hazel Goss MBE, Development Officer at Secured by Design, adds: “Our DOCOs play a vital role in crime prevention, and thanks to the knowledge they gained during the roadshow, they are now better equipped to create more secure buildings. This will make a real difference going forward.”

Lauren Snape, Senior Marketing Executive, Residential at ASSA ABLOY, comments: “We are delighted with the success of the roadshow in partnership with Secured by Design. It provided a fantastic platform for attendees to learn about the crime prevention benefits of our accredited products. A big thank you to everyone who participated.”
