Loughborough University has been recently installed security systems by ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions across its campus.
ASSA ABLOY worked extensively with the university to develop a security design manual which would ensure that all systems were consistent across the campus. As part of a full ironmongery specification, products from ASSA ABLOY, ASSA and UNION were fitted throughout the establishment, including the Falkner-Eggington student accommodation and Schofield building.
To allow students the right level of access to lecture theatres and facilities, whilst restricting private spaces, UNION supplied its keyULTRA master key cylinders to the university.
In addition, ASSA provided its CLIQ master key suite to enable building managers to grant access or block lost and stolen keys easily whilst minimising administrative work.
A number of ASSA ABLOY door closers, Trimec electric strikes, UNION lock cases, lever handles and fittings were also installed throughout the campus.
Ranked in the top 13 in all national university rankings, the university has recently worked with its NHS partners to build a National Centre for Sport & Exercise Medicine East Midlands (NCSEM).
The facility, which achieved BREEAM Excellent rating, will be used for research and to provide medical services for injuries, particularly those caused through physical sporting activity.
As the facility contains areas for university research and NHS patients, it was fundamental to put access control in place that would separate and secure accommodation for NHS outpatients whilst allowing students and staff to move around the research facility freely.
Simon Wilson, National Sales Manager – CLIQ Remote, at ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, said: “Loughborough University is a major client for us and we have worked extensively with them over the years. We have been able to utilise our experience within the education sector to provide solutions for the university, across residential halls, as well as teaching and research facilities.
“We also provided on site training for contractors for the installation of ASSA ABLOY products and provide one point of contact for on-going maintenance support.”
