Assisted-access care suite installed at Telford College

Independence for disabled learners

Recent research suggests that the number of disabled pupils is increasing: in England alone over 150,000 students have special educational needs, of which only 1.7% attend special schools.

Clos-o-Mat’s assisted-access care suite is bigger than a conventional wheelchair-accessible toilet and it includes more equipment.

For instance, a height adjustable changing bench, height adjustable washbasin, hoist and Clos-o-Mat Palma Vita wash and dry toilet with touch sensitive switch, have all been fitted.

Each piece of equipment has been designed to allow the students to be as independent as possible, with regards to their personal care.

The new suite compliments three existing care suites and conventional wheelchair accessible toilets elsewhere on the campus.

Palma Vita toilet

Clos-o-Mat’s height adjustable equipment enables users to set the equipment to their convenience, whilst its Palma Vita toilet features an integrated douching and drying facility.

The Palma Vita, along with the changing bench, removes the need of a carer to assist with cleanliness and hygiene.
