When a 1980’s London office development underwent extensive refurbishment, Skyline Architectural Aluminium fascia soffit systems from Alumasc Water Management Solutions were specified to create a beautiful new entrance befitting of the building’s prestigious Thames-side location and stunning new interior.
JRA Architects were commissioned to re-invent 10 Queen Street Place, bringing the 100,000 square foot development into the 21st century both in terms of aesthetics and building performance. The project saw a complete remodelling of the inside space resulting in increased office workspace, new facilities for tenants and significantly improved environmental credentials.
Alumasc’s approved installers, Tetraclad, were brought in by fit-out specialist Overbury Ltd to install new doorway surrounds at the main entrance. Having worked with Skyline on a multitude of past projects, they knew it would easily rise to the challenges presented at Queen Street Place.
The project demanded a number of over-sized bespoke panels to overclad the existing façade, concrete soffit, ceiling and side walls. Alumasc were able to manufacture varying profiles and large width soffits to the building’s exact specification.
Extensive support was also provided by Alumasc’s Skyline technical team, for the detailed specification and manufacture of intricate stencilled panels required to display the building’s address. These stunning panels were then backlit, to illuminate the address as an eye-catching feature of the main entrance.
Ivan Colvil, Alumasc’s Technical Sales Manager, explains: “We secured the project because of our longstanding working relationship with the installer, Tetraclad, who have been successfully installing Skyline for years. It’s possible to create many bespoke elements in this range, and the complexity of the project demanded a number of specially designed profiles.
“Our availability to work with Tetraclad throughout the process, together with our combined technical knowledge, guaranteed an end result to surpass expectations.”
10 Queen Street Place went on to earn a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ and a BCO Award for Best Refurbished Workplace. It was also shortlisted for the 2019 OAS Development Awards for Best City Refurbishment/Regeneration.
The Skyline range is often referred to as ‘a collection of ideas’, based on high-quality materials and unsurpassed technical design expertise. All elements are manufactured from superior polyester powder-coated aluminium and are available in a selection of standard bold generic shapes with bespoke designs available to order when unusual design elements are at play, such as those at 10 Queen Street Place.
The objective of Skyline Architectural Aluminium, is to give designers the ultimate freedom to push their creativity to the limit and realise solutions of aesthetic merit. High performance, innovative visual design and sustainability go hand in hand with low maintenance aluminium manufactured from materials which are 100% recyclable.
