Backing for VAT Campaign & should Richard Branson build affordable homes?

  • 20 May 2014

Buildingtalk and The Build Show are backing the campaign to get VAT reduced on housing renovations and repair work – read the top 5 reasons why it makes sense.

To keep house prices down the Bank of England say we have to build more houses . So it’s an open door to boom time for house builders. Bovis Homes plan to build 80% more homes in 2014 and have already added new 3,273 plots. However, with private Buy-to-Let growth now exceeding affordable housing builds, this just means tax payers are subsidising landlords. We need the likes of Richard Branson to get on the case and devise a scheme to build more houses for affordable rent. What do you think?

Abloy UK open their new showroom at The Building Centre in London

A reminder that The Building Centre on Store Street in central London is a great facility for the industry – a place to see products demonstrated, attend interesting seminars, and network with other professionals.

The Building Centre is now home to Abloy UK’s latest showroom.

The showcase offers hands-on experience with interactive demo points to try Abloy’s door locking solutions. Products include electric locks, CLIQ Remote and compliant access controlled door solutions.

The launch event was also an opportunity to learn more about RIBA approved CPD courses run by the Abloy Academy.
