Specialist roofing contractor Procladd has installed 1,200m2 of Protan SE at the UK’s first Moxy Hotel, currently under construction in Aberdeen.
Moxy Hotels is aiming to open 150 hotels in the next decade focused on ‘delivering a travel experience that marries modern technology with affordability’. Its first hotel to be built in the UK is a seven-storey, 200 bedroom structure in Aberdeen.
The hotel will feature Protan SE 1.2mm single ply membrane, bespoke manufactured in white and prefabricated in made-to-measure lengths and widths. Contractor Procladd simply installed the prefabricated membrane by fixing along the edges and abutments.
The bespoke specification of Protan included a white roof for solar reflectivity, in line with the client’s corporate style.
Further influencing factors included Protan’s ability to prefabricate the sheet to specific sizes, as well as the company’s Proplan software, which enabled the calculation of the most efficient usage of the prefabricated material to minimise wastage.
Protan SE is then manufactured according to the plan and factory-welded in a controlled environment. On site, the contractor is then only required to fix along the edges and abutments, and detail round penetrations. Research by Protan has shown potential savings in labour and time of up to 70%.
Protan SE single ply membrane is proven to perform for up to 30 years, and has been developed to withstand the harshest weather conditions found in Europe.
Protan offers a full support service, from NBS specification and in-house CAD design through to technical advice and variable warranty depending on specification from its UK headquarters in Warrington.
