Alumasc’s Skyline Fascia and Soffit system has been incorporated into the design of Kingswood Locality Hub, a new regional centre for South Gloucestershire Council’s Children and Young Persons services.
Designed by Alec French Architects and Integral Engineering Design, the three-storey Hub forms part of the revitalisation of Kingswood Civic Centre. It was carried out by Wates Construction, working in line with the Council’s Carbon Reduction Commitment and sustainable standards.
Alumasc worked in close collaboration with Alec French Architects to design a bespoke Skyline Fascia and Soffit system for the development.
Comprising 25 different trims and flashings in the shade Basalt Grey, the system was developed to accommodate various angles and orientations. Alumasc assisted OHS of Bristol with the installation to ensure that the fittings were arranged suitably around the timber cladding and feature oriel windows.
The system runs along the Locality Hub and the roofed areas, which adjoins it to Kingswood Civic Centre. Alumasc also supplied a range of rainwater systems for installation on neighbouring buildings.
With a variety of components available, Skyline allows architects greater scope in design and specification. It is available in four standard fascia configurations, which are manufactured in polyester powder coated aluminium. Each component can be customised in any RAL colour.
Alumasc also offers a design service: simple flashings and copings can be made to order within 10 working days, whilst more complex designs can be created with only slightly longer lead times.
Since its completion, the Kingswood redevelopment project has received a nomination for a National Innovation Award from the British Council for Offices (BCO); it was shortlisted for Best Community Building in the LABC 2012 Building Excellence Awards.
