Stelrad summary of UK Radiator Trends

On 14th September I was a guest at the latest Stelrad Radiator group Editors Event held this year at Epsom Downs racecourse where Stelrad were the sponsors of a key race. Chris Harvey, Head Of Marketing at Stelrad, the top UK radiator brand, gave a useful summary of UK Radiator Trends – here are some highlights.

UK Radiator Trends

The UK radiator market can be divided into two main sectors – Contract and One Off

  • In 2016, One Off – replacement radiators sold into Private households – represented 62.6% of all radiator sales
  • The Contract market represented 37.4% of volume and consists of Private New Build, Social Housing New Build Social Housing RMI, Energy Companies and Commercial sectors

Steel Panel radiator volumes fell by 0.9% in 2016

  • All volume losses were in the Social Housing segment of the Contract Sector, now forecast to stabilise to essential replacement

Stelrad Radiator Group

A key objective for SRG is to develop sales of higher added-value Designer radiators

  • Sales volumes have increased by 46% since 2013, 72% since 2012
  • SRG’s main focus is Premium Panel radiators, such as Vita Deco and Vita Plan

Stelrad Radiator Market Summary

The UK radiator market is challenging

  • Volumes static
  • Designer/Premium Panel radiator growth is positive

Stelrad’s five business objectives continue to drive their strategy

  • In 2015, Stelrad regained brand leadership in the One Off sector
  • We successfully maintained our number one position in the Contract sector
  • New product launches over the last year are driving market expansion and share growth in the Designer radiator and Towel Warmer segments

2017 is Stelrad’s 80th year and will continue to invest for the next 80 years!
