Bull Products has secured a contract to provide its quality-renowned Cygnus Wireless Alarm System throughout work on Bond Street tube station.
The previous system in use could not deliver what contractors sought for the project, that being a high-connectivity alarm system with a strong radio frequency strong enough to work underground.
The former system took two minutes to send an alert to the panel from alarms situated underground at platform level; the Cygnus System, on the other hand, received an alert instantly after an alarm is raised.
Working with construction group, Skanska, and technology-based engineering solutions company, Costain, Bull has supplied 39 Fire Call Point Alarms, 12 Heat Detectors and a Control Panel.
The units have been fitted theoughout five underground floors and the platform, providing supreme protection for over 250 workers.
Bradley Markham, Director at Bull Products, said the alarm system works well underground and in areas of dense concrete, making it a fine solution for the project.
“This is another major project win in London and we’re thrilled that our alarm system is protecting so many construction workers’ lives when it matters the most,” he added.
The £300 redevelopment of Bond Street station will ensure faster journey times for those who travel through the station.
Simon Formby, Electrical Supervisor for Bond Street Station project, said they were ‘really pleased’ with the Cygnus alarm system, which addressed issues that were surfacing beforehand.
He went onto say that a long-range connection was needed; one that would work effectively underground without any cables and that the system is very compatible and efficient, with workers able to be alerted in event of an emergency in just seconds.
