The Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA) publishes a new guidance document – GD40 Understanding membranes in ventilated rainscreen facades.

This guidance document takes an integrated approach to the key elements of design around airtightness, water ingress, condensation control (vapour permeability), and fire protection to achieve the optimum performance and long-term durability in ventilated rainscreen facades.

The document covers the terminology of membranes including main functions; membrane placement within the envelope, considering both vapour permeable and vapour controlling membranes; regulations and detailing/installation.
