Building boards achieve BBA certification

  • 6 Mar 2015

By achieving the BBA’S Certificate 90/2439, Fermacell’s Gypsum Fibreboard building boards have gained additional accreditation to impress specifiers and contractors with

Fermacell’s Gypsum Fibreboards are fabricated from recycled content, such as used gypsum and cellulose fibres from post consumer waste paper.

As the boards are manufactured without additional chemicals, they are recyclable: off-cuts are put back into the production cycle.

The boards are produced in a range of sizes, from 10mm and 18mm, and are suitable for timber frame, commercial and off-site constructions.

The boards were awarded BBA’s Certificate 90/2439 after a recent assessment took place.

In its evaluation, the BBA assessed the structural performance of the building boards to find that they contribute to the racking resistance of timber frame walls when used as a sheathing board.

The assessment also revealed that the boards can be used to improve the sound insulation of walls and ceilings.

The boards can resist attacks from fungi, which often destroy timber products, and meet the Class 0 fire performance surface requirements for internal and external linings.
