Key sessions include…

– Keynote: Gary Neville

Gary will be speaking on fuel poverty, levelling up and the importance of good quality, affordable housing.

– Strategies for achieving net zero buildings

Achieving net zero buildings is a challenge, particularly for existing buildings, that can be approached in a variety of ways. The panel will consider practical and effective net zero strategies for both newbuild and retrofit projects.

– The electrification of heat in buildings with Chris Galpin, Heat of Heat Pump Installer Policy, DESNZ

The Climate Change Committee (CCC) says electrifying heat should be UK’s main focus for decarbonising buildings. This will consider what the challenges are for the roll-out of electric heating at scale, including affordability, skills and education.

– Getting retrofit right first time

Poorly performing retrofits will undermine confidence in housing decarbonisation, as well as negatively impacting fuel poverty rates and resident comfort. The panel will discuss how social landlords and contractors can ensure that retrofit projects create successful outcomes for all stakeholders, including the importance of data, skills and post-retrofit monitoring.

– Retrofitting hard-to-treat homes

The vast majority of today’s homes are likely to still be standing in 2050 – and some of these homes are considerably harder to improve than others. This session will look at what makes some homes a challenge to decarbonise and what can be done by social landlords to make these properties more efficient and cheaper to run, tackling both fuel poverty and carbon emissions.
