Stannah Xtralifts for Chequers Court retail centre in Huntingdon

The 400-space car park for Chequers Court retail centre is part of £5m investment in the redevelopment of Huntingdon Town Centre.

Stannah Xtralifts 2.0 duplex stainless steel 21-person, stretcher passenger lifts were installed to offer access to all.

About the installation

  • wall mounted within concrete lift shafts

  • lifts operate at a speed of 1.0m/s between four floors over a distance of 10650mm  

Located opposite the stairs, each 21-person passenger lift complements the light, spacious

design aesthetic whilst addressing the demanding environment: 

  • Double height stainless steel bump rails
  • Exteriors, full-depth architraves and call stations finished in satin stainless steel, with the interior car walls finished in a textured, linen stainless steel
  • Suspended down lighter ceilings, car extractor fan, hand rails, rear-wall half-height mirrors 
  • Two opposite facing car operating panels with Braille pushes
  • Black, studded, non-slip PVC floors

Low noise, energy use and running costs

The Stannah Xtralift’s oil- and vibration-free high-performance, gearless traction drive ensures a smooth ride.

Low noise, energy use and running costs are ideal for increased usage and higher travels.

  • no need for a machine room, as all the necessaries are contained in a small cabinet

Stannah worked with both the customer and project requirements, providing the supply and test of lifting beams and full depth landing architraves for additional robustness to the large passenger lifts.
