Cembrit building boards approved for use with Weber systems

  • 21 Aug 2017

After extensive testing, two building boards from Cembrit have been approved for use with Weber building materials.

The company’s Unipan tile backer board and PB render board have been deemed suitable for use with Weber’s cement-based tile adhesive and weberend MT system respectively.

This development enables Cembrit to offer integrated render solutions for contractors working on internal tiling or external render projects.

Before securing approval, the building boards underwent a comprehensive testing process to ensure compatibility with the Weber products, and determine whether they could withstand specific installation requirements.

Developed for internal ‘wet’ applications, Unipan is a lightweight tile backing board with enhanced adhesive properties. The product, which features reinforced tapered edges for a good join, is available sized for bathrooms and shower rooms; it can be mechanically fixed to stud or block work.

When using Weber adhesive, the board does not require priming.

Cembrit PB, on the other hand, is a base board that has been specifically designed for render systems. It boasts dimensional stability and low water absorption properties to minimise expansion and contraction after contact with heat, cold and moisture. Polystyrene beading reduces the overall weight of the board.

The product can be scored or snapped, meaning mechanical cutting is not required for application.
