CLIQ technology alleviates on-site security threats

  • 21 Jul 2016

By providing multiple programmable keys and cylinder types for a range of doors and openings, CLIQ offers flexible access management for all sites.

The security of a site is constantly under threat: keys held by employees can be lost or copied without authorisation; a power outage can negate a building’s management system; or the physical security of a data centre may be breached.

ASSA ABLOY’s CLIQ technology has been designed to minimise such risks. As a mechatronic locking system, CLIQ combines mechanical and electronic security in a range of key-operated cylinders, which boast tamper-resistant properties to heighten physical security.

The company offers locking cylinders for gates, machines, elevators and cabinets, as well as doors and other outdoor areas.

Previously, the system has been installed in public spaces, such as hospitals, retail complexes and universities, where a high level of security is required. At Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, for example, CLIQ locks have been specified to protect drug and medicine cabinets. Rotherham Council has utilised the technology to secure vacant public housing between tenancies.

CLIQ security

CLIQ softwareBy using the CLIQ software, system administrators can programme every key and cylinder within their network.

Designed to support efficient workflow management, the software enables users to customise access permission schedules and manage access rights by enabling and disabling certain keys.

Lost or stolen keys can be de-authorised by the system administrator; audit trails can be set up for every employee or contractor, and keys can be programmed to permit entry at pre-set times.

CLIQ security can be retro-fitted to existing mechanical locks, or added as a new installation. The wireless locks are powered by a standard lithium-ion battery, which is fitted inside each CLIQ key.
