A Manchester-based delicatessen has benefited from a complete refurbishment, which included the installation of Polyflor’s high performance commercial vinyl flooring.

Located in Chorlton, Manchester, Barbakan Delicatessen was established in 1964 by the Najduch family. Since then, it has won awards for its freshly baked continental breads and remains popular amongst the Chorlton community.

The refurbished store features a bakery and a deli counter, with an indoor seating area.

Expona Commercial vinyl flooring

Salford-based flooring contractor, Newards, was commissioned to install Polyflor’s Expona Commercial PUR luxury vinyl tiles to the deli’s shop floor area. A Blue Varnished Wood design was selected; in the style of worn timber, it was stripped and varnished to create a worn effect.

With a 2.5mm gauge and 0.55 wear layer, the Expona Commercial range has been designed for use in the retail sector. It is also suitable for installation in other heavy commercial environments, where a high level of foot traffic is expected.

The vinyl tiles benefit from polyurethane reinforcement, which is cross linked and UV cured to provide cleaning benefits. The practical advantages of the flooring appealed to the owners of the deli, who were attracted to the easy maintenance regime it offered.

Comprising a total of 55 stone, wood and abstract effect designs, the Expona Commercial range is completely recyclable via the Recofloor ‘take back’ scheme, which Polyflor offers its full support to.
