Community Spirit Award for decorating contractors

  • 10 Mar 2015

Johnstone’s Trade has developed its Community Spirit Award to reward decorating contractors who have had a positive impact on their local communities

The winner of the Community Spirit Award will be announced by Johnstone’s at its Painter of the Year event, which is scheduled to take place in May.

The entries will be assessed by a panel of senior staff from Johnstone’s parent company, PPG Architectural Coatings UK.

Iain Aubusson, the editor of HABM magazine, and the editor of LABM magazine, Claire Clutten, will also be judges.

To qualify for the award, decorating contractors must have completed work in one of the following three categories: Sustainability, Neighbourhood and Youth or Social Inclusion.

The Sustainability category covers estate tidy ups, volunteering with communal gardens and making general improvements to the local community.

The Neighbourhood category requires work on a volunteered community project or maintenance of a communal space.

To meet the requirements of the Youth or Social Inclusion category, the contractors must have promoted career opportunities in local schools or offered employment and apprenticeships to young people and the long-term unemployed.

All entries for the Community Spirit Award must be submitted by Friday 13th March 2015.

Johnstone’s is accepting entries from any decorating company from the UK and Ireland that holds a valid PPG account.
