Contractor reaps benefits through digital timesheets

  • 2 Dec 2019

Donseed’s new mobile app solution, a product of Causeway Technologies Ltd, has been introduced to help contractors to better manage their labour on site.

If you work in within the construction industry, you’ll no doubt be familiar with the many problems of managing labour, from keeping accurate timesheet data to ensuring that those working on site are adequately qualified to be there. The reality is that the outdated practice of using paper and/or verbal agreements results in a host of inefficiencies and unnecessary expenses that can be alleviated with the adoption of a cost-effective, digital labour management solution.

In this article Peter Gillibrand, Project Manager and CRE at Woodlands Site Services, talks about how the business has digitised their labour management by implementing the Donseed mobile app solution.

The Donseed mobile app solution promises significant opportunities for contractors to better manage their labour on site. The solution sits alongside the Donseed biometric solution and has been developed specifically for the construction industry.

Peter said: “Since first implementing Donseed’s biometric solution onto 3 of our larger sites in 2018, we have deployed in excess of 20 Donseed mobile app licenses across the business. Introducing the Donseed mobile app has enabled our business to completely remove paper timesheets. No matter how small our projects are or the number of operatives we have on-site, the business now has complete visibility of who was on site, hours worked and more.”

He added: “Typically we use the information collected through the Donseed solution to quickly collate time spent on-site and provide our payroll with accurate, indisputable reports which they then invoice from. It has had a significant impact on how we engage with our labour management, in particular.”

As Woodlands Site Services continue to roll-out new functionality available with Donseed Peter anticipates that the solution will also become a key tool for the health and safety team, enabling them to ensure reporting on key site safety metrics is accurate and sites are legally compliant at all times.

Peter concluded: “Although we are still in the early stages of adopting Donseed, the benefits we’ve seen since replacing our outdated paper timesheets have been brilliant. The availability of this live project data is also starting to allow our health and safety teams to calculate accident frequency reports and provide up-to-the-minute near-miss reporting. We would definitely recommend Donseed to any other contractor thinking about digitising their on-site labour management processes.”

One comment on “Contractor reaps benefits through digital timesheets

  • Great Report! The construction industry is in dire need of digitalisation and its looking like we’re getting there slowly. I’m a project manager for a large contractor, currently working on a crossrail job over in east London and we’ve implemented a system over the past year from a company called innDex. Their system is exactly what the industry needs. They have a tool for managing project, similar to a lot of others out there that we’ve seen and tested, but actually with a lot of additional, useful features. They also provide an app that can be downloaded and used by everyone on site; improving communication between the whole site team. And in addition they sit down with my project team every month and on the back of this build out the platform based on what we talk about, our pain points and the processes that we have on site that we can digitalise and automate using their system. Highly recommend! check them out: http//.inndex.me and if you want a chat get in touch with me and I can advise you on exactly what they’ve done for us!
