Crown Paints has donated paint and sundries to the first ever Love Local Hub store, which is designed to encourage people to support local businesses.
The leading paint manufacturer donated 26 cans of paint in various colours to refurbish the Milton Keynes-based space, which is based in the city’s centre:mk shopping centre, in order to transform the unit ready for it to be filled with displays comprising work from local businesses, artists and entrepreneurs who are able to rent a pop-up space in the shop for a fair price.
Previously an online and social media-based hub showcasing local products, Love Local opened its doors in Milton Keynes in November 2020, in perfect time to inspire Milton Keynes residents to buy locally at Christmas.
There were plenty of attractions in store including a selfie station phone box and DIY paint by numbers cookies. The Love Local Hub proved so popular in fact, that it was asked to extend its stay at centre:mk.
Samantha Poole, Love Local Hub’s director, commented: “The Love Local Hub as a physical space has been two years in the making, and we’re delighted that it’s been so successful at centre:mk, supporting the local economy by filling empty units and creating employment opportunities.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Crown Paints for supporting us in bringing the Love Local Hub to life thanks to its generous donation of paint, which had a huge impact on how the shop looks.”
Josie Cawdry, Crown Paints’ corporate communications executive, added: “As a business we strive to support the communities in which we work, so we’re delighted to have been able to provide paint for the first ever physical Love Local Hub which aims to promote businesses in Milton Keynes and in return, support the local economy.
“The store looks fantastic, and we’re pleased to hear that it’s proved to be a great success.”
