Crown Paints’ new colours for Spring/Summer 2017

  • 15 Mar 2017

Crown Paints is celebrating its love of colour with the new Colour Influences 2017, a programme providing specification professionals with useful insight into the shades which will shape professional interior and exterior environments in spring and summer this year.

Crown assembled an expert panel of Influencers to pinpoint the latest colour trends, using its knowledge for passion for colour to produce three stunning palettes, ‘Stillness’, ‘Fusion’ and ‘Free Spirit’.

Crown Trade, Sadolin and Sandtex Trade, all Crown Paints’ brands, will offer the colours.

STILLNESS MAIN

Kathryn Lloyd, Crown Colour Specialist, is a member of the Colour Influences panel and has worked to ensure the palettes work in both private and public spaces. Kathryn explained that Colour Influencers bring together the latest trends and forecasts to give a fresh and creative perspective to colour.

The first palette in the collection is ‘Stillness’, and was developed to induce a relaxed mood, featuring soothing shades of yellow fading into architectural greys, with the subtlety of water colours.

The second palette is ‘Fusion’ and features rich, vibrant hues in a complex, ornamented design. This colour was inspired by the marrying of traditional ethnic design with bold colour, with multi-layering, giving a contemporary look using a patchwork of stencils and vivid shades.

FUSION MAIN 2

‘Free Spirit’ is the final palette, and is a fun trend evoking a faded 80s Miami Glamour, combining coral and aqua tones with the use of quirky shapes to punctuate walls.

Crown developed the Influences programme to support specifiers with colour. Other services include bespoke colour chiming and a library of sector focused colour books for environments including healthcare, housing and education.

Computer aided design can be used to complete exterior and interior schemes, and for certain projects the Colour Services Team can provide face-to-face consultation.

Two CPDs are offered by Crown Paints on the subject. ‘The Role Of Colour In Buildings’ covers the psychology of colour and how it creates atmosphere, effective lighting and the role colour plays in perceptions of room dimensions. In addition, the CPD offers advice on creating and specifying colour schemes and specifying colour schemes and complying with the Equality Act with the use of Crown Paints SCAN colour coding system.

‘Colour In Education’ is the second CPD and explains how colour can be used to best effect within an educational environment and addresses topics similar to the first CPD but explores them in the context of the educational sector.
