Curtain walling and glazing specified for Girlguiding HQ

  • 14 Aug 2015

Designed by Walker Simpson Architects, the new purpose-built facility features continuous glazing across all façades installed by Alusec UK.

The Girlguiding North West England HQ has benefited from the installation of Senior’s curtain walling and glazing systems

Senior’s SCW curtain walling was installed to provide clean, crisp lines, creating an open and accessible layout which allows those inside the building a clear view of the outside areas.

Its SPW600e windows were also specified to facilitate the flow of natural light, also boosting interior ventilation and air circulation.

To complete the project, Senior’s ground floor aluminium SFG shop front glazing system was integrated with the SD commercial doors, which offer an anti-finger trap feature.

Its resilience also ensures the system’s suitability for high traffic environments.

The close proximity of the building to a protected hedgerow and mature trees has been sympathetically reflected in the design, with Senior’s aluminium glazing solutions providing exceptional views of the surroundings and contrasting with the cantilevered timber lattice entrance canopy above.

The Girlguiding North West Headquarters serves as an administration base for the organisation’s 68,000 members in the north of England.

It also features a small trade counter from which uniforms and supplies can be purchased and offers commercial office space available to rent by the wider community.
