The winners were announced at a glittering awards ceremony on Thursday 29 February 2024 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.
The CIBSE Building Performance Awards (BPAs) 2024 recognises the people, products and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence in the built environment. They are the only industry awards that focus on actual, measured performance outcomes, and not just design intent or performance specifications.
Winning in the ‘Product or Innovation of the Year – Thermal Comfort’ category, Diffusion’s modularisation of its fan coil product impressed the judges, who said it was ‘a practical, well thought through design’ that delivered on customer feedback.
The judges added that with thorough research and testing, Diffusion has developed a product that considers whole life costing through the use of TM65 and local sourcing to reduce transport miles. The judges also noted that Diffusion had considered energy, acoustics, performance, and the flexibility modularisation brings to deployment and onsite repairs. In addition, the judges highlighted that the modular, configurable design means building owners can reuse the fan coils units by repositioning them, this offers flexibility to meet change of use in buildings.
