The team behind Digital Construction Week (DCW) is delighted to announce the launch of Digital Construction North (DCN), an intimate one-day event that brings together AECO decision-makers from across the north of the UK. The free-to-attend expo will launch at Manchester Central on 13 November 2024.
Digital Construction North promises a flavour of Digital Construction Week in a fresh one-day format and with new content that can’t be accessed elsewhere. This includes an exclusive keynote, hands-on demonstrations, launches, live podcast recordings and more.
Ollie Hughes, Event Director, explains: “We currently see more international visitors attending Digital Construction Week than we do from the North of the UK. We know that travel and time is a huge commitment, so we’re excited to bring you a showcase of AECO innovation that’s accessible right on your doorstep.
“With the North’s focus on levelling-up, construction in the region is thriving with some incredible projects underway. We’re really excited to be part of this by offering a platform for the industry to showcase innovation, get together and share ideas.”
Mark Taylor, Associate Director of Digital Construction at Buro Happold and a member of the steering group, says: “The North of England boasts a vibrant ecosystem of SMEs and start-ups, where digital transformation is pivotal for business growth and innovation.
“It’s really exciting to see DCW, an advocate for AECO industry transformation, coming to the North putting a spotlight on the region’s commitment to embracing digital.”
A central exhibition will feature 50+ leading built environment brands showcasing the latest solutions for digital twins, augmented reality, information management, automation and AI, drones, robotics and much more.
Meet the teams behind the tech and discover how these solutions can help your business be more efficient, collaborative, connected, sustainable and profitable.
Five theatres will be located around the show floor, running free-to-attend talks, informative panel discussions, interactive workshops and more. Hear from 75+ industry experts and get up to speed on the latest ideas shaping architecture and design, construction, engineering, and operation.
Examples of the big-name speakers that were part of the programme at last year’s DCW include Bryden Wood, Skanska, Laing O’Rourke, Restoration & Renewal (HoP), AECOM, John Lewis & Partners and Heathrow.
The theatres will focus on some of the key areas shaping the built environment. These include business efficiency, change management, winning work, standards, information management, AI, BIM, asset management and much more.
An exclusive keynote talk will also take place in the main auditorium. Places will be limited and details on how to get your ticket will be released closer to the event.
There will be plenty of opportunities to make new connections, with a focus on bringing the built environment community in the North together to network and share ideas.
Northern AECO communities and groups are encouraged to host meetups and special events around the show. More information on how to do so will be shared soon.
Dr Melanie Robinson, Associate at BIM Academy, and another member of the steering group: “There is a lot of great work being done, not just in the North, but by those in the North, and an initiative like DCN would play a great part in showcasing this.
“With the news constantly reminding us of skills shortages, an event like DCN will help demonstrate that there are opportunities for growth across the region, and potentially attract new talent from neighbouring sectors.
“I’m really excited to represent the Northeast, not just in my professional capacity, but also as regional lead for Women in BIM,” she concludes.”
Due to venue capacity at Manchester Central, tickets for Digital Construction North will be limited. To find out more about visiting or exhibiting, head to the website: www.digitalconstructionnorth.
