DILEX-KS movement joints secure hospital flooring

  • 16 Feb 2016

Schlüter-Systems has supplied a range of its DILEX-KS movement joints to the Southmead Hospital in Bristol to secure the facility’s tile and natural stone flooring.

ss_prod_dilexks_r_rdax_55The maintenance-free movement joints were installed throughout the Brunel Building, which features single rooms, en-suite facilities and a direct route through the hospital.

Specified for their high durability and secure edge protection, the stainless steel movement joints are ideal for use on floors that are exposed to high pedestrian traffic and for surfaces subjected to heavy mechanical traffic.

The DILEX-KS movement joints ensure that the floor covering will not crack or debunk from the substrate, whilst providing a discreet and aesthetically pleasing look to complement the surrounding area.

Carl Stokes, head of marketing at Schlüter-Systems, commented: “At Schlüter-Systems Ltd. we pride ourselves on our lasting, innovative systems and solutions. To be chosen for this project was an honour and we are extremely proud to have supplied product from our movement joint range to Southmead.”

Movement Joints and Uncoupling Membranes for Tile and Stone Coverings

Schlüter support its DILEX-KS movement joints with a RIBA approved CPD entitled ‘Movement Joints and Uncoupling Membranes for Tile and Stone Coverings’.

The CPD offers insight into specifying appropriate movement joints and uncoupling membranes to counteract stresses in the substrate such as drying shrinkage, deflection and moisture movement to prevent further issues such as failed sealed connections or cracked tiles and joints.
