Dulux Trade donated a range of paints to be used to inject colour into the Phoenix Unit at London’s Springfield University Hospital.
Artists will be working collaboratively with consultants, clinicians, occupational therapists and patients to create and install museum quality artwork in the ward.
The project, a collaboration with South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust, aims to positively transform the residential ward’s environment through art and colour. The project aims to aid the rehabilitation of up to 18 patients who have a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
Co-founded by curator, Niamh White and renowned artist, Tim A Shaw, the project will bring art installations created by world class artists including Gavin Turk, Nick Knight, Assemble, Mark Power and Jo Coles to the hospital environment.
Dulux Trade has provided the artists with paints in a wide variety of colours from its professional ranges, including the recently upgraded Diamond Matt water-based emulsion paint and Weathershield smooth masonry paint.
Ewa Czapracka, Marketing Manager, Dulux Trade: “We’re delighted to be a part of this project that will, we hope, improve the wellbeing and outlook of patients, staff and visitors through art. Providing paints from our extensive range for the artists to display their works on is an exciting opportunity for us and we look forward to seeing the space transform into one that could be a blueprint for other healthcare environments.”
