DuPont Tyvek has been used in the recent renovation of a 19th century two-storey stone built cottage in Cornwall.
Offering views over the picturesque shoreline of Sennen Cove in Cornwall, the project posed a particular set of challenges for building to contemporary codes.
The renovation has been complemented with the sympathetic addition of a luxury, four-bedroom house with a pool and terrace.
Designed to the highest standards, concerns were initially raised in the development stage surrounding interior climate comfort and protecting the structure from the Cornish coastal weather.
Long established as an proven performer in terms of water-shedding and moisture management, Dupont Tyvek Supro Plus was specified by contractors Marnick Roofing Ltd for the pitched, slated roofs.
The advanced breather membrane offers enhanced thermal efficiency and complies with BS5534:2014 for all wind zones at all altitudes – ideal for the exposed location of the property.
Paul Marks of Marnick Roofing Ltd commented: “The choice was clear, not only in terms of the quality of the product, but also because we know we can depend on great service from DuPont. This is a high-spec project in a spectacular natural setting and we are proud to have been involved.”
Dupont Tyvek is a single layer membrane which is naturally vapour open and watertight. This is due to its composition of millions of micro fibres bonded together to make an impermeable “maze” to air and moisture, whilst allowing water vapour to pass through its pores.
All DuPont Tyvek roofing underlays: Dupont Tyvek Supro, Supro Plus (with integral tape) and Enercor roof offer unrestricted application when tested in accordance with BS5534:2014.
This allows contractors to be confident that they in are full compliance, not only with the code, but with all the weathering and thermal performance expectations.
