Ecobuild success as optimism returns to green building

  • 11 Mar 2014

Celotex Insulating Briatain campaign begins at Ecobuild

Ecobuild highlights for me included a visit to the Celotex ‘Insulating Britain’ campaign bus parked inside the exhibition hall; learning about the impact of BIM from Assa Abloy; great presentation (and hospitality) from Wilo; favourite new British product was the hybrid solar panel from Solar Angel; and I have featured a PEFC video from the show on how to achieve top timber certification on projects.

I also found time to visit the Saint Gobain Innovation Centre to meet Didier Roux who gave a brilliant talk on R&D & Innovation. We hope to feature the video & notes form this shortly on Buildingtalk.

On the conference side of Ecobuild, Ed Davey pledged to fix ‘disappointing’ and ‘clunky’ Green Deal but also reminded us that ECO has helped insulate 475k properties. Your thoughts?

And finally, a bird smoking in bed has been blamed for burning down a building near my house in London – more on this via the Twitter link.
