Sunningdale Heights with Sika's concrete balcony system in place

Elastomeric balcony system specified for concrete tower block refurb

  • 7 Oct 2015

Sika’s Elastomeric walkway and balcony system has been specified as part of a long term concrete repair solution at a high rise tower block in Merseyside.

Sunningdale Heights was one of six high rise tower blocks on the Wirral which is currently under repair as part of an ambitious £32 million refurbishment programme by Magenta Living.

Originally built in the 1960s, the 14 storey tower block in Moreton required refurbishment due to concrete deterioration.

Main contractor Bullock Construction required a concrete repair system which would allow the extensive refurbishments to be carried out with the minimum disruption to residents.

Intending to repair and extend the life of the building, the Sikafloor-415 Elastomeric system was specified as an ideal solution for the recoating to the balconies.

The concrete repair system boasts the ability to be laid and trafficked in the same day. It conforms to the performance requirements of EN 1504: the European Standard for the protection and repair of reinforced concrete and demonstrates Sika’s long term, technically correct construction solutions.

With the works now complete, the product offered the ideal regeneration solution for the refurbishment and long term protection for the residential tower block.
