North Yorkshire-based cable cleat manufacturer, Ellis, has procured its first order from Latin America: its cable cleats were specified for installation in a Peruvian mining project.
The project is based in Tambomayo, in Peru’s Caylloma district. Energy specialist, Conenhua, specified Ellis’ Alpha cable cleats for installation on-site, via Logytec, a local distributor.
The cleats have been installed in a 138kV substation, which will provide energy to the mine when operation begins in July. Manufactured in extruded aluminium, the cleats offer one-bolt fixing and benefit from zinc-plated steel closing fasteners.
The products have been tested to ensure customers are aware of their exact short-circuit withstand limits. As an electrical installation is a dangerous part of any project infrastructure, it is important to specify products, such as the Alpha cable cleats, that alleviate safety concerns.
Exporting to Latin America required Ellis to develop personal relationships with their contacts. A representative from the company travelled to the different markets on a regular basis, speaking to contacts on the phone during downtime.
Certain contacts, such as Uruguay-based Gabriela Castro-Fontoura, have become very important to Ellis. Gabriela has become instrumental in ensuring the company’s success across the continent: following the Peruvian specification, it secured first time orders in Colombia and Costa Rica.
Indoor air quality and ventilation manufacturing specialist Nuaire is pleased to be exhibiting at the Specifi Mechanical Services events once again in 2025.
