On 13th and 14th June, The Encon Group, the number one independent distributor of building materials, gathered industry professionals at its first Passive Fire Protection Showcase.

Representing the South East and hosted at Encon’s East London branch, the event attracted leading manufacturers, specialist contractors, main contractors and builders’ merchants from across the region.

The Showcase, entitled Burning Wisdom, invited industry experts to share knowledge and insights in the field of passive fire protection, with guest speakers, product workshops and practical demonstrations enhancing awareness and understanding of this specialist market.

Speaker sessions and training were delivered by Promat, PFC Corofil, Rockwool, Firefly, Quelfire and the industry trade body, the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP). Speakers covered pertinent topics such as protection for structural steel, the Building Safety Act, the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) and new innovations.

Live product demonstrations were delivered by Promat and Firefly, and other activity included a tour of Encon’s warehouse and meeting with Encon’s specialist teams from across the region, representing East London, West London and Maidstone branches.

Customers also had the opportunity to take part in a darts competition with ‘The King of Darts’, Bobby George, for some fun and light entertainment during the day.

Neville White comments: It was fantastic to see so many attendees and exhibitors support our Fire Protection Showcase, reflecting a strong desire from customers and the industry to share knowledge and best practice around building safety and passive fire protection.
