Ideal Commercial Heating has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of the EQMAX range of gas-fired condensing water heaters, marking the company’s first move into commercial domestic hot water products.
Available from September 2026, EQMAX will enable contractors to source commercial heating and hot water equipment from a single market-leading and trusted manufacturer. This will make it simpler to order a more complete commercial plant room solution, supported by Ideal Commercial Heating’s nationwide sales, technical and aftersales services.
Designed for commercial buildings with hot water requirements, the EQMAX water heater range comprises ten models offering outputs from 20kW to 120kW and storage capacities of 210, 356 and 538 litres. This broad selection allows the output and stored-water volume to be closely matched to the requirements of each application.

EQMAX warranty
EQMAX is suitable for both planned refurbishment projects and urgent replacement installations, where restoring the hot water supply quickly is a priority. Its familiar look and configuration, commonly used hydraulic connection sizes and straightforward controls make installation straightforward. As with Ideal Commercial Heating condensing boilers and heat pumps, EQMAX comes with a five year warranty at no extra cost when the appliance is commissioned free by Ideal within three months of the installation date.
Each EQMAX direct-fired water heater incorporates a stainless steel storage tank, heat exchanger and coil. The stainless steel construction results in a lightweight product, helping contractors transport and manoeuvre the unit easily through buildings into plant rooms. Models with 210- and 356-litre storage capacities have a diameter of less than 800mm, enabling them to pass through a standard-width doorway. The 538-litre model will fit through standard doorway without the removable zip-fastened insulation jacket.
Stainless steel also provides natural resistance to corrosion and is particularly suitable for commercial hot water applications, where the material is continually exposed to heated and oxygenated water.
The stainless steel construction is combined with electrical anode protection to further enhance product durability across areas with different water compositions. EQMAX has been tested for operation in very hard water conditions of up to 350mg/l of calcium carbonate, giving contractors greater confidence when selecting equipment for regions where water hardness or softness can contribute to premature corrosion.
The condensing range offers high flow-rate performance and fast heat-up times for demanding applications such as hotels, schools, hospitals, leisure facilities, sports clubs and other commercial or public buildings with substantial hot water consumption. Across the range, continuous flow rates at a 50°C temperature rise extend from 360 litres per hour to 2,190 litres per hour.
EQMAX uses an easy to use controls platform, providing contractors and building operators with a familiar and accessible interface. Features include programmable operating schedules, a setback function and an integrated anti-Legionella programme, helping hot water generation to be managed around building occupancy and demand.
The range meets the relevant requirements of the Building Regulations and Water Supply Regulations Regulation 4. It also incorporates low-NOx combustion technology, with NOx emissions below 40mg/kWh throughout the range.
A range of hydraulic and flue accessories will be available alongside EQMAX, including unvented kits, de-stratification pumps and components for different flue arrangements. Each water heater will be supplied with a universal flue starter kit containing the essential basic components required for either open or room-sealed systems.
Amy Sedgwick, Product Manager, Groupe Atlantic UK & ROI at, says: “With the addition of the EQMAX range, customers now have access to both commercial heating and hot water through Ideal and our merchant partners, making the purchasing process that much easier.
“They also have the reassurance that the same level of technical knowledge, commissioning support and customer service they already associate with Ideal Commercial Heating products applies across the new hot water range.”
The EQMAX range of gas-fired condensing water heaters will be available to order through commercial heating merchants from 1st September 2026. For more information, go to https://
