Exclusive Specifier Events in 2023 from Rockpanel

  • 16 Aug 2023

Fire safety in refurbishment and new build: where we stand today is a Rockpanel event taking place in London and Manchester, in September and November 2023.

Rockpanel has an involvement in many projects where non-compliant cladding panels or complete facade systems are undergoing replacement in line with the existing fire safety regulations and building standards. These morning events aim to update specifiers on regulations regarding fire safety for exterior cladding, particularly for use in buildings over certain heights and those used for specific purposes. There will be complimentary tea and coffee plus a buffet lunch and the event will be eligible for CPD points.

The morning will comprise three presentations plus an informal Q&A session.

Rockpanel’s Darren Gormer will present an informative and enjoyable RIBA Approved CPD ‘From Rock to Panel’, which seeks to expand understanding around stone wool facades and fire safety RIBA CPD certificates will be issued to delegates on request.

What else to expect?

In addition, we will hear from Visiting Professor at the University of Central Lancashire, Professor James Glockling, whose many important roles include heading research laboratories at the Loss Prevention Council (LPC), Building Research Establishment (BRE), and the Fire Protection Association (FPA) where he ran the UK insurance research scheme, RISC Authority.

He comments: “Many designs are never realised because they are uninsurable. Designing in of features such as fire safety and resilience will help ensure the necessary insurance is secured and building owners and occupiers are protected from financial adversity.”

There will also be architect project insight from Simon Smith, Director, INC Design Associates. Simon will speak about Merry Hill, one of the largest retail destinations in the UK.

He remarks: “Following preparation of numerous schemes, sketches and ideas, the general outline principles…  the three distinct phases of the development started to morph into an interesting concept.

“The client was keen to ensure all the external facades demonstrated excellent fire safety properties. We found that Rockpanel were one of very few manufacturers who could provide cladding panels with an A2 Euroclass rating.”

The London event will take place on Wednesday 13 September at the outstanding Goldsmiths’ Centre, Clerkenwell, London.

The Manchester event will take place on Thursday 9 November at the iconic, RIBA Award winning Stoller Hall, Central Manchester.

Please join us for what promises to be an enlightening and valuable morning.
