Exova BM TRADA workshop covers Eurocode 5 connections and fasteners

Exova BM TRADA is holding a one-day workshop at its High Wycombe headquarters covering Eurocode 5 Connections on Tuesday 1st December 2016 aimed at engineering professionals with experience working on timber structures.

The workshop will include an introduction to fasteners introduced by Dr Hugh Mansfield-Williams, a technical manager at Exova BM TRADA experienced in engineered wood products for use in load-bearing structures, in addition to fasteners and connectors for joining timber together.

Dr Keethi Ranasignhe, Exova BM TRADA’s Eurocodes consultant, will run the second part of the course covering the EC5 method of connection calculation, whilst both will discuss dowel type fasteners; Johansen theory; axial effects and the rope effect; calculation of lateral load capacities; fastener spacing rules; the effective number of fasteners and moment connections.
