Fire Door Safety Week with Abloy UK

  • 24 Sep 2018

To mark Fire Door Safety Week, which starts today (24 September), security expert Abloy UK has highlighted alarming statistics that show an increase in the number of fires and fatalities, along with a decrease in fire safety audits.

The infographic that detail the information, which can be found on Buildingtalk’s social media sites, features new info from the Home Office released earlier this year, including fire and rescue incident statistics, plus fire prevention and protection statistics.

Pat Jefferies, Commercial Director at Abloy UK, commented: “Abloy is a big Fire Door Safety Week supporter and we promote the crucial importance of fire doors in saving lives and protecting property – not just during the initiative but all year round.

“Our infographic features some worrying figures, with an increase in the number of fires and associated injuries and fatalities. What’s more, the research shows there are fewer fire safety audits being carried out, with nearly a third of those audited deemed unsatisfactory.

“When it comes to fire door safety there is no margin for error, and non-compliance can lead to the substantial fines, custodial sentences, and most critically the loss of life.

“Here at Abloy we champion the crucial role of fire door standards, and because we truly believe education of life safety standards is vital for any business involved with access control specification, we offer a number of free Academy courses at our head office.”
