Freefoam is top pick for C & A Building Products

  • 17 Jun 2022

One of the largest independent UK stockholders of plastic building products, C & A Building Products, has seen such an increase in sales of Freefoam that its range of products now accounts for a significant proportion of the company’s portfolio.

Based in the South East, C & A Building Products has been specialising in plastic building products since 1968, when Charles and Audrey Candlin founded the company as a sole trader initially.

A family business, C & A works primarily with small and medium sized contractors from a large depot in Gillingham, Kent, which holds the majority of its stock, and one in East London where it all began.

Having begun life as a polycarbonate roofing specialist, C & A Building Products now stocks a range of plastic building products, including fascias, soffits and gutters.

Freefoam

‘Exploded’

Chris Candlin, Managing Director, comments: “When we switched over to Freefoam, our range of roofline exploded. There was more colours and more choices and customers like the quality of the products.

“Sales, for us, increased over time and we have put a little more emphasis, a little bit more push towards Freefoam. We now stock a comprehensive range, including interior products and exterior products. We do stock white as standard, but we also specialise in the colours. Anthracite grey is very popular.

“We have a very good working relationship with Freefoam, we get on well and I think we have a lot of common values, as we both like working with small independent companies.

“Freefoam is easy to talk to and our sales rep, Kim, is very pleasant and easy to contact. There is a good cooperation between our companies, and I can see that continuing.

“Cladding sales have grown and it’s a significant part of our portfolio and is a great fit with the rest of our products. Installers like the fact it’s easy to cut – you can use standard tools – and it’s easy to measure. It also gives homeowners the opportunity to install insulation, which can help with heating costs.”

‘Strong and lasting relationships’

Colin St John, Commercial Director at Freefoam, says: “Building strong and lasting relationships with our customers, such as C & A Building Products, is crucial to our business, as they grow, we grow with them.

“Our roofline, cladding and interior products are an ideal addition to any merchants’ portfolio and it’s fantastic to see our customers grow and flourish with the help of Freefoam.”
