Futurebuild announces plans to host Innovation Zone

  • 16 Jan 2019

Futurebuild has been announced as an Official UK Government Innovation Partner as it announces its plans to host ‘The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Innovation Zone’ at the 2019 event.

The Innovation Zone – delivered by BEIS in conjunction with Innovate UK and the wider innovation family – aims to inspire and educate visitors around the Government’s ambitious clean growth initiatives, and provide knowledge to innovative companies on how to access funding and support from BEIS and Innovate UK.

The zone will demonstrate the Government’s work in delivering on the Clean Growth Strategy and showcase the impact and opportunities of BEIS’s Energy Innovation Programme. Focused on accelerating the commercialisation of innovative clean energy technologies and processes, the £505m programme is a major element of the Government drive to ensure UK industry is at the leading edge of the global shift to clean growth.

BEIS will be highlighting the economic opportunities presented by tackling climate change at the Innovation Zone. Visitors will be able to learn more about businesses who are already benefiting from the opportunities created by the £2.5bn Clean Growth Strategy, as well as gaining an in-depth understanding of the work of BEIS and opportunities available from BEIS and Innovate UK.

The Zone will provide a concentrated platform for knowledge share and investment in a lower carbon economy. This will take the form of three distinct areas:

– A three-day seminar series focused on key clean growth themes
– An exhibition of innovative companies that have been funded and achieved growth through various BEIS and Innovate UK funding streams
– A ‘Business Bar’ that will provide 1-to-1 business support and education to people with innovative ideas on how they can access available funding and innovation support. This will bring together a collection of experts from our family of innovation support providers.

Martin Hurn, MD of Futurebuild, comments: “We pride ourselves on being the industry event where professionals from every field of the built environment unite to share knowledge and harness the latest opportunities to drive the entire sector forward. We’re extremely pleased that BEIS and Innovate UK has recognised this in their decision to partner with us in delivering the Innovation Zone at Futurebuild 2019.”

With thousands of industry professionals from around the globe set to attend Futurebuild 2019, the event is the ideal opportunity for BEIS to build further awareness of its aims of driving innovation in the clean growth sector and ensuring the UK is recognised as a global leader in tackling climate change.

Martin concludes: “We’re looking forward to the start of another long and fruitful partnership through the Innovation Zone.”
