Galvanizing plant offers support for mining operation

  • 14 Jan 2015

South West Galvanizers has offered their services to a project in Devon, galvanizing steelworks for the new Drakelands Tungsten and Tin Mine

South West Galvanizers chose to support the project, which will create employment opportunities and make use of local companies, at the request of its customer, Centristic.

On behalf of Centristic, the company has galvanized over 200 tonnes of steelwork for Drakelands Tungsten and Tin Mine, which is situated on the outskirts of Dartmoor.

This steelwork will form the steel conveyors in the mine’s distribution network. These conveyor belts will transport handling equipment, chute installations, plate work and materials to various areas of the process plant.

The new mine, which is expected to enter production in summer 2015, will produce around 3,500 tonnes of tungsten per year. This figure is equal to 3.5% of the predicted global demand.
