Garador lends helping hand to local charities

  • 3 Nov 2022

Leading garage door manufacturer Garador has been continuing with its programme of assisting local charities. Recently, it helped sponsor a group of youngsters on a special educational visit to Thailand.

The trip was arranged by Somerset’s Reach Youth. They provide support, interventions and general services to help improve the social and emotional development in young people.

A spokesperson for Reach Youth comments: “We believe in our young people and their ability to grow and develop given the chance. We see time and time again how including and supporting them can turn their lives around.”

On this trip, the group of young people spent time supporting the work of a local orphanage, volunteering in an elephant sanctuary and learning about the social and cultural differences.

Paul Eddleston, Marketing Manager at Garador, comments: “The group worked hard fundraising before leaving on the trip, and we were delighted to be able to make a contribution to this worthwhile cause.”

Garador runs coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support

Garador staff recently took to their kitchens to bake a wide range of tasty cakes and savouries. This was for a special coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Many of the items for sale during the coffee morning were handmade by office and factory staff. These included a huge range of both traditional and personally created recipes, from meat and veggie samosas to Dorset apple cakes.

Paul Eddleston says: “The morning was a fabulous success. Everyone was very generous and also surprised each other with their cooking ability!”

A raffle was run at the same time, and so far well over £500 has been raised for the charity.
