Garage door manufacturer Garador played a pivotal role in the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance’s Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge.
The challenge involved hundreds of cyclists undertaking a gruelling 55 mile ride across Somerset and Dorset. This week, it has been confirmed donations have hit over £45,000. What’s more, money is still coming in for the charity event.
Jon Watson, Garador’s Managing Director, comments: “This is a wonderful amount to help a vital local charity. We help every year by providing large capacity lorries to transport the cyclists and their bikes back to their starting point after the race, but this year saw more entries than ever before, and more donations too. The event can most certainly be called a wonderful success.”
The route began at Watchet in North Somerset and finished in West Bay on the Dorset Coast. Garador’s fleet of modern vehicles are equipped with special access systems so that for the event the bikes could easily be wheeled into the lorries and firmly secured for the journey. Garador drivers gave their time for free and helped to ensure all the participants could easily get back to Watchet and find their cars after the ride.
Emma Jones, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager, praised the efforts of the cyclists and also all helpers.
“Raising over £45,000 is simply incredible and we give a huge thank you to everyone who assisted,” she says.
