Gatic drainage products from Alumasc Water Management Solutions (AWMS) have a well-established reputation for the use of innovative materials and manufacturing techniques. Recent developments in the recycling industry have enabled the transformation of previously non-recyclable plastics into the most versatile products, and it is through the use of this technology that Gatic have developed Kerbdrain.
Gatic Kerbdrain is a heavy-duty combined kerb and drainage system (CKD) that provides an efficient and safe method of drainage on potentially any surface or structure with a kerb edge.
Commonly used in retail parks, drive-throughs, distribution yards, along highways and motorways, and within residential housing developments, Gatic Kerbdrain moves away from the concept of two-part systems by offering a single, solid, monolithic system measuring 500mm in length and weighing only 7Kg. Not only do these single units negate the need for costly handling equipment, they also present exceptionally quick installation times whilst reducing the risk of personal injury.
Unlike traditional kerb and gully methods where flows compound on the surface, levels on site are delivered to the kerbside usually by way of a one direction across-fall/camber. Run-off is then driven to an outlet hidden within the Kerbdrain channel body, which is resistant to all forms of effluents found in highway situations such as road-salts, petrol and diesel.
Gatic Kerbdrain is manufactured using 70% recycled polymers, finished in concrete grey. The product has the added advantage over traditional materials in offering exceptional strength (compliant with BS EN 1433:2002 Group 3 kerb side installations) and improved impact resistance provided it is installed in accordance with Gatic’s installation details.
Kerbdrain is part of the Gatic civil drainage systems range, which, for more than 90 years, has been used to capture, control and return run-off safely into the natural water cycle, contributing directly to wider sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS).
The Gatic range also includes Slotdrain surface water drainage systems, offering five categories of channel, providing a solution for any conceivable combination of drainage demand and loading requirement.
Slotdrain’s unique hexagonal profile was developed by Gatic to ensure the system can handle varying volumes of rainfall with equally high efficiency. Channels come in various sizes and have an accompanying range of accessories and fittings to achieve total design flexibility. Unobtrusive ‘treadsafe’ profiles are available for areas of high foot traffic and elements of the range boast recyclable, eco-friendly solutions that pose no harm to humans or the environment.
Engineered Access Covers complete the Gatic product offer, presenting closely machined components, which, when assembled into a complete unit, provide covers and frames that are gas-, air- and watertight, and remain completely stable without rocking under traffic loads. Gatic access covers can be created to meet different loading requirements across the widest range of applications.
