GEZE UK celebrates success at RIAS Awards

  • 9 Jul 2018

GEZE UK recently celebrated the success of its sponsorship of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) Awards Dinner, for the fourth year in a row.

The event took place at The Hilton, Glasgow, earlier this month and saw GEZE UK’s sales and marketing director, Andy Howland, present an award to Allan Murray Architects Ltd, for Boroughmuir High School, Edinburgh, which was noted to have an “excellent relationship between inside and out.”

Andy comments on the awards event: “The RIAS Awards again delivered an eclectic showcase of projects which were diverse in purpose, function and design. I was delighted that GEZE UK could again sponsor the awards dinner and witness the talent demonstrated through these works.”

The £26.3m project for the Children & Families Department of the City of Edinburgh Council saw the development of a four-storey building with state-of-the-art facilities. The project created large well-lit spaces, excellent acoustic treatment and a very intelligent fire/smoke/ventilation strategy – meaning that both large multi-height atria are not enclosed by walls or screens.

The school, which opened in February this year, has the capacity for 1,165 students and boasts a range of hi-tech facilities including a new rooftop social area, outdoor dining space, soundproof dance studio, recording studio and new classrooms complete with interactive touch-screen boards.

The event also saw LDN Architects take home an award for the development of the 19th century McEwan Hall, for the University of Edinburgh, which utilised GEZE products.
