GGF on the importance of fire-resistant glazing at FIREX

  • 6 Jun 2018

With the FIREX show fast approaching, the GGF Fire Resistant Glazing Group (FRGG) is preparing to raise awareness of the importance of fire-resistant glazing.

With the subject of fire-resistance under increased scrutiny over the last year, the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) will be assisting visitors to the show in identifying the use of fire resistant glazing.

The show will see GGF cover the principles of Fire Resistant Glazing: and why building contractors, designers, architects and specifies should ensure they are using experienced qualified companies, by using GGF Members to carry out the supply and installation of fire resistant glazing. A video presentation will also take place to inform visitors on the proper installation and the benefits of fire-resistant glazing.

Visitors to GGF’s stand (A475) will have the opportunity to view the before and after effects of a fire on glazing, in addition to an exhibit from a fire event demonstrating how the glass would be affected in a fire.

GGF will also launch a newly revised edition of ‘A Guide to Best Practice in the Specification and Use of Fire-Resistant Glazed Systems’ to help users with the key elements involved in achieving a fire-resistance performance from their glazing. The first twenty visitors to the GGF stand can also win a free hard copy of the amended guide!

Finally, GGF Technical Officer, Adrian Blaydon will be delivering a presentation on ‘Fire-rated Glazing – Getting it Right, Getting it Wrong’ to demonstrate the importance of fire resistant glazing. The presentation will take place at FIREX on Wednesday 20th June at 4:30pm.

You can book your free ticket to FIREX here, due to be held at London Excel from 19-21 June 2018.
